Creative Education from Finland

Now in Cyprus

Welcome to Arkki Cyprus, the local branch of a global educational initiative that began in Finland – the country renowned for having the world’s most effective education system. Arkki offers a pioneering approach to learning by using architecture and design as tools for creative education.

Our mission is simple: help children and youth aged 4–18 build 21st-century skills through play, creation, and imagination. With over 30 years of experience, Arkki’s holistic STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) programs have reached more than 50,000 children across 12 countries.

Our Philosophy:

Learning by Creating

At Arkki, learning goes beyond textbooks. Each lesson is a playful journey, filled with experimentation, exploration, and real-world problem-solving. Whether children are designing floating homes, building future cities, or exploring geometric forms, they are constantly practicing creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

We don’t teach children what to think — we teach them how to think. Through afternoon activities, workshops, and structured courses, Arkki empowers each child to express themselves, make decisions, lead, and adapt — skills vital for a rapidly changing world.

Why Arkki?

What Sets Us Apart

Arkki’s curriculum is approved by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and integrates science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, humanities, and environmental studies. Here, architecture becomes the “A” in STEAM — the bridge connecting all disciplines in a meaningful, hands-on way.

We prepare children for jobs that don’t yet exist by developing the 6Cs:
Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, Complex Problem-Solving, and Computational Thinking.

Every instructor is a trained professional in architecture or design, with specialized training in Arkki’s creative pedagogy. They guide children to explore, express, and grow through a process-based learning journey.

From concept to creation, children bring their ideas to life. These interactive projects build Higher Order Thinking (HOT) skills like innovation, design thinking, and analytical reasoning.

Each project connects classroom learning to everyday life. Children begin to observe their surroundings differently, make connections between subjects, and develop empathy and communication skills.

As a member of the Education Finland Programme and bearer of the “Design from Finland” mark, Arkki is internationally certified for delivering high-quality, design-led education around the world.

Our Goals

1

Cultivate children’s emotional intelligence, social and cultural awareness, and their ability to work collaboratively.

2

Encourage leadership, curiosity, initiative, focus, and resilience.

3

Build the foundation for success in both academic and real-world environments.

4

Equip children to face global challenges with confidence, creativity, and purpose.

Our Story:

From Finland to Cyprus

Founded in 1993 by architect Pihla Meskanen, Arkki has become a globally recognized educational model. Rooted in Finnish excellence, Arkki Cyprus joins this international network, offering a unique blend of innovation, creativity, and fun to local children.

As children in Cyprus engage in Arkki’s afternoon courses and creative workshops, they’ll be participating in the same forward-thinking educational approach used around the world — from Asia to Europe and beyond.

We don’t teach children what to think — we teach them how to think. Through afternoon activities, workshops, and structured courses, Arkki empowers each child to express themselves, make decisions, lead, and adapt — skills vital for a rapidly changing world.
