Inspired by a belief in the power of creativity, Maria Josephides is introducing a world-class creative education model to local families. In this interview, she shares the vision for Arkki’s launch, clarifies the differences between courses and workshops, and outlines what’s coming next.
Maria is a qualified chartered architect and an active member of Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and Technical Chamber of Cyprus (ETEK)
What is the difference between Arkki’s courses and workshops?
The weekly courses are long-term, structured programs that follow Arkki International’s progressive curriculum, designed for specific age groups. They run throughout the academic year and build skills gradually. On the other hand, workshops are shorter, standalone creative sessions—usually one-time experiences—focused on a specific theme like floating houses or future cities. Both are hands-on and educational, but courses offer continuity, while workshops give children a taste of Arkki’s method.
Which Arkki Cyprus programs will begin first?
We’re launching with the weekly courses for children aged 4–9, starting in mid-June 2025. These include age-appropriate modules like Play & Create and Explorers, which introduce design thinking, architecture, and STEAM subjects through playful and meaningful projects. Workshops will be offered later in the year, along with other special events.
Where will Arkki classes be held in 2025–2026?
We are starting in Nicosia, with classes hosted at The G C School of Careers and the Artos Cultural House. These venues give us a great environment to launch Arkki’s philosophy in Cyprus and connect with families looking for quality after-school programs.
Will Arkki expand to other cities in Cyprus?
Yes, absolutely! Our plan is to expand to other cities like Limassol and Larnaca during the 2026–2027 academic year. Arkki is about making creative education accessible, and we’re committed to reaching more children across Cyprus.
Why do you believe Arkki is important for Cyprus?
Because our children need more than academic success—they need creativity, adaptability, and confidence. Arkki gives them a safe and inspiring space to experiment, collaborate, and grow through design and play. It’s not just about learning—it’s about discovering how to think, lead, and innovate. After all, children are the architects of the future, and they deserve to build it with imagination and purpose.
